Hi Chris,

Great Script, I'm trying to get an rss reader to grab the news from the site, however it continuously fails. Then look into this further I get 2 validation issues

Quote:
This feed does not validate. * line 17, column 39: pubDate must be an RFC-822 date-time: Sun, 31 Jan 2010 09:24:22 +0 [help] <pubDate>Sun, 31 Jan 2010 09:24:22 +0</pubDate> ^ In addition, interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendation. * line 3, column 97: Self reference doesn't match document location [help]

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Dave

Options > System > Timezone: change this to +0000
This should make it validate.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply, that worked in regards to the validation.

Is there any reason where the rss feeds can't be accessed through readers? I have tried a few scripts now and continually receive the error

The file can't be load

This is how I tested this time

http://www.riskinc.co.uk/TSRSSReader_diagnostic.php#

and the rss feed is http://www.riskinc.co.uk/news/rss.php?feed=234

Again your help is much appreciated.

thanks

Dave

I tested your RSS feed in my local reader (Windows Live Mail - has built in RSS support). It read it fine and worked as expected.

I checked that feed with W3C here

http://validator.w3.org/feed/

It validates and also works as expected too.

Hi,

Thanks for your help earlier.

I'll update the final outcome just in case anybody else experiences the same issue.

The hosting on my server prevents loopback requests, so calling the rss feed from the www.mysitename.co.uk/index.php of my site to www.mysitename.co.uk/news/feed is blocked.

So it appears at the moment I can't have a scroller of recent news :sad2:

Cheers for you help and the script is great.

Dave
