The '3.7 Ajax Template' still calls story and shortstory. This needs to be amended.

Also, within '3.7 Ajax Template' formatting still shows - but it will be inoperative because formatting is set in add/edit news.

<span class="title_{oneortwo}" style="font-size: 18pt; color: #000000">{title}</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; color: #ADADAD">Posted by [email]{author}[/email] - {date} - [comments]{comments} Comments[/comments] - {categories} - {ratingstars} <span id="ratingstars_text_{id}"></span>
</span>
<div style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt">
{shortstory}
{story}

but this is a conflict that needs to be sorted out.

users have been setting formatting for 'article' in template.
The '3.7 Ajax Template' still shows formatting and most users need to add formatting in template.

as it is, this formatting cant work because it is doubled up by the formatting applied in add/edit news.

There needs to be provision to use one or other. BUT NOT BOTH.
the new formatting section in 'add/edit news' conflicts with users existing formatting provisions.

The system knows if you're using the new tags or old tags, so it doesn't need to be changed.

You have always been able to set formatting when editing/adding news using BBCODE, now you do it instead with html. There is absolutely no difference whatsoever.

My source code renders like this....

typ

<h2>Latest entertainment sector news : HMV, Cineworld, Pinewood Shepperton</h2>
<p class="nine">2010/06/30 : Company Reports - 0 Comments - 436 words</p><br />

<p align=justify class=five>

<p style="text-align: justify">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 12px">Entertainment media retailer <strong>HMV</strong> has announced results inline with market expectatio......

formatting set in the template [ p align=justify class=five ] is nested and in operative.

If you set the formatting in add/editnews how does the template system allow you to customise look and feel ?

So that you may produce articles in large font for some pages of site
and for other parts of the site , in small font
?

as described above

'3.7 Ajax Template' supplied in the upgrade shows the nested formatting in which template formatting is inoperative.

If you were to correct the template we might be able to see how formatting control is retained in the templates.

Presently I cant see how
and your '3.7 Ajax Template' certainly doesnt show how
in fact, it presently describes the problem perfectly

If your worried about the news formatting conflicting with the tenplate formatting, simply don't format your news. The system has always been like this where you've been able to style the news however you want.

its fiddly...

You may know any easier way but the only way i could do this was to;

add news
view source code
past in article [with b /b and line breaks br / already in] save article.

If you susequently edit article, the system always generates p and /p around the text and this breaks for formatting within templates....

It can be done but its fiddly.
But cant see an easier way to retain template formatting....
