Hey,

I have used an older version before and never had a problem, note on the same hosting provider.

But, when I go to install the new version on a new website, I get the following message;

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /homepages/36/d191754161/htdocs/iwigroup/news/install/index.php on line 335

Is there a reason that I'm getting this message?

Also, I have changed the CHMOD for db.php to 777

Can you tell me which version you had installed previously, which version you're trying to install now and also which version of PHP your server uses?

I have installed, if i remember right, version 3.2 or 3.4 on another website...for this site im installing the current version and I know my server handles PHP4.4.9 (thats what i get with the phpinfo)

Reason it's not working is the latest couple versions of the script require PHP5+ to work properly.

see thats one problem, i know 1AND1 does PHP5+ and what confuses me is that when i get the php info, it says 4.4.9, if that is the cause, I would need to talk tot he hosting provider, thanks Chris.

Some hosting providers offer both PHP 4 & 5 and let you choose which one to use in your account settings somewhere.
