Just experimenting with back dating a story, as I will need to do this with the site I'm setting up to populate the news.

I randomly set the date to January of this year (2010), but when displayed, it shows January 2009. Changing the month to February 2010 displays the proper year.

Interestingly, if I set the date to Jan, 2009, it will display as Jan, 2009.

Options > System > News > Date & time format:

For the year section you have %G

http://uk3.php.net/strftime

use %Y instead and it should correct it.
