I received the above message on my web site recently and looked within the forums here for a solution. The main one seemed to be to create php.ini and place it in my /cgi-bin directory. This didn't work so I attempted to do an upgrade from my current version of 3.5 to the latest 4.0.3. After uploading everything except db.php I typed /update/index.php into my browser as instruction but it just displayed a text version of my main page with no option to upgrade. Any suggestions?

Upgrade on my web site is now complete. Version number now 4.0.3. However the php setting message is still being displayed and I am not permitted to upload files
