Ah favorite games. I am not a big gamer myself just because I get hooked too easily. My list is small, but the main games that got me hooked were:
M.U.L.E - Atari I believe, but I now have it on the PC. Best simple dynamic game EVER. Command & Conquer / Red Alert - Still play this actually. I suck at it, but love them laser tanks. I think this one had me hooked the most as I would play it 8 hours straight and not even have guilt from it. 1nsane - A fun but old racing game. The first and only game I helped modify and put my truck into the game. Gran Turismo 1 & 2 for the PlayStation. I would love to play 3 & 4 and any others if there are more, but I am too cheap to buy the newer consoles.
