Deem the deed not the breed. I recently discovered that they are passing legislation in several states deeming pit bulls and dogs such as rottweilers, doberman pinshers or any dog over a hundred pounds. Anyone lashing out in anger towards this would say 'I have pit and its not vicious', or , 'I have a dog over 100 pounds and its not vicious,' I do have a dog that is 147 pounds that was bred to hunt lion in africa. Its a ridgeback also known as the african lion hunter. Sure my dog is a big baby and wouldn't hurt a fly. But thats not my point, my point is that innocent dogs like mine are getting put to sleep because of there breed. An american pit bull terrier is a friendly, loyal, loving, adoring, and cuddly. Their every wish is to please their owner. Sure they can be stubborn, but a little training can fix that. A human-aggressive pit bull is probably an abused or improperly raised dog. Socialization and training are key elements in making a pit bull friendly towards other animals and dogs. Pit bulls are capable of amazing feats of agility, including high leaps, thereapy dogs & handicap assistance dogs. They were even used at 9/11 to search for victims. They are used for bomb sniffing, rescue, and drug sniffing. I even found a group of people training them to become seeing eye dogs for the blind. And how can you deem them bad?

Do you actually think killing these dogs will help keep the dog attacks down? No. Did you know that 3 people die a year from pit bull attacks. 2000 children are killed by their own parents each year. And how can you say these dogs are vicious?
The reason why we get vicious pits are because of irresponsible owners that do not want to take the time to train it. You can't blame the dog for this. you have to blame the owner. This is a product of bad media and poor education on the government side. Not everyone loves pits for what they were used for. These pits are peoples family members. and you are going to snatch up someones pride and joy.

Sure pits were bred to make the best fighting dog but the dog is not born to fight they are taught to fight. But before fighting, the pits were used as bait for bears and bulls in the uk in the 1800's. Pits were bred for there muscular, athletic, and to be strong. But in there hearts they are there to please you at a pin drop. I will fight to the death for this animal and any other animal because I wouldn't it to happen to me, and surely not to all of the loving pit owners out there.

ok here it is this is what i ahve to say to it all i have a 175 lb dog his name is bear he is a buffalo mastiff and you knwo what i dotn believe that any dog should be put down but the garbage of it all si that theyre doing it for stupid reason i am speaking my mind i am totally against the act and even the thought of it
