Some more options:

-Show a top 10 best post, most viewed or something ?
-Poll management
-News letter to members
-Option to use a calander for events ?
-Backup ? Statics
-Image management like thumbnails, image gallery into news
-Google maps
-Uploading more then 1 image a time
-Subcategories

Added the ability to sort news posts by either view count or rating.

newsletters system would be cool.
I would use a simple one.

The user just need to put the mail and he's set to go.
