Upgrading

If you already have 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7 or 4.0 installed you can upgrade to 4.0.2. To do so download the 4.0.2 version of the script and upload everything except db.php, you can keep your own version of that file (you also don't need to re-upload the install directory). Once everything has been uploaded run update/index.php from your browser, here it will ask you to enter the version number of the script you currently have installed it will then update the database with all the necessary changes. If all has gone well you should be prompted with a message telling you the upgrade is complete and to also delete the update file.

Remember to backup both your files and database before running the update.

Chris, you're still doing GREAT work with your N-13 system...
Please consider 2 things in your next update:
1. In the admin > options > add a enable/dissable option for the "Posted by" line
2. Ability to insert images directly in the news post area and not by uploading seperatelly beforehand in the "upload images" area and then inserting them in the news...

You can change this by editing your template. Under the NEWS tab, look for this in the default template:

The piece you want is the Posted by [email]{author}[/email].

Delete this from your template and no more "Posted by John."

Actually i'm impressed by this News script. But i still have a little problem :

I would like to make some changes on the registrations wich I want to be completed by the user (on my index page, something like a log form) and not by the administrator into the "opions -> accounts" section.

Can anyone help me to do that please, i really need these changes and i dont want to use another script. This one is just wonderful.

In Options->System
There is an option on Registrer in wich we can allow users to register.
But where do they register? On wich page?

(I've activated the "Allow users to register" but i see nowhere we can register.)

Hopefully this is a simple question, but we are still running version 4.0 and we want to make sure our script is secure.

We made some customizations to the script and we are kinda scared it will overwrite the files in which the changes are made. :S

Or is it safe to update anyways? Otherwise is it possible to replace the changed / updated files in general?
